“From the first moment that a student sets foot in a Catholic school, he or she ought to have the impression of entering a new environment, one illuminated by the light of faith, and having its own unique characteristics. The inspiration of Jesus must be translated from the ideal into the real. The Gospel spirit should be evident in a Christian way of thought and life which permeates all facets of the educational climate”.
Dear Parents and Families,
We welcome everyone back after the holiday break and hope that all of you managed to have a good rest and time to enjoy the things you like to do as a family.
This term is looking to be a busy term with school camps for Years 3 & 4 and Years 5 & 6, visits to the Art Gallery for all classes, our Annual Peace Mass celebration and an excursion to Old Gippstown for our Year 1 & 2 children. Details for each activity will be shared with you as we draw closer to each event.
This Sunday, we begin the term with thirteen of our children receiving their First Eucharist.
Mass will be celebrated on Saturday evening at the cathedral with a 5pm start.
I thank families and teachers involved with their preparation, with a very particular “Thank you to Mrs Rosie Phillips, our Religious Education Leader who has worked closely with the children at various times throughout Term One .
Congratulations to:
Vienna, Layla, Harmynie, Ollie, Madison, Ashleigh, Mesa, Abby, Addi, Jaggar and Ziggy.
The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated on May 19th, 2024. If your child is in Year 6 and has received their First Eucharist and Reconciliation they may receive the sacrament of Confirmation. Please contact the school for further information.
50th Anniversary of Priesthood
Please know that Father Peter Bickley will be celebrating fifty years as a priest with celebrations due to take place at St Michael's Parish Church Traralgon on Sunday, May 26th, 2024. He warmly invites our school community to be a part of these celebrations. Please register your attendance by May 20th, using the details below. Afternoon tea will be held after Mass.
School Uniform
Please know that all children are expected to be in their Winter uniform by Monday, April 29th, 2024. Hats need not be worn with the Winter uniform but children are welcome to wear them.
A reminder that the light weight jacket may be worn for extra warmth but it does not replace the school jumper. Hair is to be tied back neatly if it falls below the shoulder. Sneakers are to be worn with the sports uniform only.
Please know that the full winter uniform is to be worn for school photos which are scheduled for May 9th, 2024.
Walking & Riding to School
Please ensure children are aware of arrangements when walking and riding to school.
We ask children to use the crossings provided throughout the town to ensure a safe route. We also ask that children are aware of pick up arrangements to avoid any anxiety at the end of the day. If arrangements need to change, please contact the office and we can forward a message to your child/children.
Reports
Mid year Reports will be available at the end of term.
If you have any questions about your child’s learning and wellbeing, please begin a conversation with your child’s classroom teacher. Appointments for discussions can be made directly with the classroom teacher so as to organise a suitable time for both parties. Thank you.
School Advisory Committee
We have received a number of nominations for the School Advisory Committee. Nominees will be contacted early next week. Our Parents & Friends will complete their nomination and will then be able to proceed with our AGM at a time that works for all.

to view images when they become available in the webshop.
Registration is simple, just follow the 3 simple steps on your child’s personalised flyer once you
receive it and remember to add the codes for all your children attending this school.
Even if you registered last year, it’s important that you do again this year using your child’s 2024

When images are ready to view and in the webshop, all parents who have registered will be notified
by SMS and email.
Once registered, please wait for notification that 2024 images are online to view before making
your purchase.
A SPECIAL REPORT: Toxic Achievement Culture
Toxic achievement culture is characterised by the entanglement of self-worth, achievement and the relentless pursuit of academic or extracurricular success - at any cost! This phenomenon goes beyond the mere quest for success. it embeds a belief in students that their merit is exclusively tied to their achievements, often propelled by intense external pressures from families, schools, and society.
Some students are overfilling their schedules with activities aimed at "getting ahead". However, the consequences are proving to be detrimental on students' mental and physical health resulting in burnout and heightened levels of stress. This culture is also being aggravated by parental expectations, peer competition and a relentless comparison ethos often driven by social media.
There is nothing wrong with having ambition, but it's crucial to ensure that this desire doesn't push our young people into a toxic cycle of achievement and make them feel that they must achieve in order to matter. The relentless drive to excel is leading many students to prioritise accolades over genuine learning and personal growth, often at the expense of their own wellbeing and interpersonal relationships. As adult carers, we need to advocate for a more balanced and holistic approach to achievement, emphasising the importance of resilience, wellbeing, and the pursuit of diverse interests.
This Special Report will help you understand the signs of toxic achievement, and how to address them so as to teach students how to adopt a better work/life balance.
We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this Special Report, and as always, we welcome your feedback.
If you do have any concerns about the wellbeing of your child, please contact the school for further information or seek medical or professional help.

Hi,
One in three people in Sale will need blood during their lives — and without amazing locals like you spreading the word, that blood may not be there at the crucial moment.
As one of our amazing supporters you’re in an ideal position to let as many people as possible know that we’ll be rolling in at:
Sale Mobile Blood Donor Centre
14 to 24 May
Opening hours and location details are available on our website
Look for us at nearest local landmark; Sale Greyhound Racing Club
https://g.page/salegreyhounds-sale?share
Getting the word out is as easy as 1,2,3.
- Pop up a poster (or a post)
Download the attached poster, social media image and text, and pop them up where lots of people will see them. Or, share the Facebook event to your own pages for your friends and family to see.
- Pop in a donation time
If you’re a donor — or you’re organising a Lifeblood Team — don’t forget to book in beforehand online, on the app or on 13 14 95. Remember, get in early to grab the best time! And if you’re not already part of a Lifeblood Team, you can join or start one online.
- Pat yourself on the back
Local legends like you are more important than you could ever guess (but if you’re part of a Lifeblood Team, you can check your results online to get an inkling of your impact). By spreading the word out in your backyard, you give life and hope to so many people across Australia. That’s worth a pat on the back.
Thanks for helping get the word out!
