“From the first moment that a student sets foot in a Catholic school, he or she ought to have the impression of entering a new environment, one illuminated by the light of faith, and having its own unique characteristics. The inspiration of Jesus must be translated from the ideal into the real. The Gospel spirit should be evident in a Christian way of thought and life which permeates all facets of the educational climate”.
Dear Parents and Families,
We have had a very busy week with children attending the Annemieke Mein Exhibition at the local gallery. I thank all our parents who were able to assist staff. Next Friday, May 10th, our Foundation classes will be attending. We look forward to another good day and thank Michelle Glover for liaising with gallery staff to ensure all classes could attend.
I also thank parents who were able to assist with the Mother’s Day Stall this week. Please know there was an error in the upcoming dates calendar regarding the Mother’s Day Breakfast. This will not be taking place next Friday, but we invite all our mothers, Nannas and special friends to come and visit us on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024 between 8.45am and 10.35am. Classes will be open and a morning tea will be provided in the Community Room as visitors complete their tours.
School Advisory Committee
Please know that all nominations have been received for the School Advisory Committee.
The following parents have been nominated and are happy to accept their nominations to be a part of the Committee.
We welcome them and look forward to their contribution
Parent 1: Jayne Dibble
Parent 2: Joshua Stubbe
Parent 3: Zoe Curtis
Parent 4: Macala Heywood (P&F Representative)
Within the next week, we will present a profile for each of our Committee members.
We anticipate a May meeting as we work towards confirming a time with Fr Francis.
Do it for Dolly
Next Friday, we will acknowledge “Do It For Dolly Day” and focus our efforts on cybersafety and appropriate use of social media in support of No Bullying Online.
We are becoming increasingly aware of students communicating online through online platforms and mobile phones. We remind families to take note of what is taking place online, what messages are being sent or images being posted by children and the impact it may have on young minds.
The e-safety commissioner and website is available to all families to access and to understand the impact of inappropriate use on Mental Health, the consequences and legalities involved.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend,
Take care
Anita & Staff

A SPECIAL REPORT: Trauma Recovery
Trauma in children significantly disturbs their sense of safety and normalcy, leading to substantial emotional and behavioural changes. Such disturbances often result from exposure to traumatic events, which may be exacerbated by continuous media coverage. This exposure can trigger stress, anxiety, and trauma, with varying recovery timelines due to the unpredictable nature of trauma's impact. Observing young people grappling with these effects can be highly distressing for parents and caregivers.
It's important to establish a nurturing environment to help restore a child's sense of security to help promote resilience. Active involvement in their recovery is essential, as is recognising the unique, personalised needs of each child in responding to trauma. Depending on their age, children may present with different symptoms, such as regressive behaviours in younger ones or withdrawal and agitation in older children and teens. It is important to monitor and manage the type of information children may access to reduce their emotional distress.
The brain stores traumatic events as powerful emotional memories, influencing behaviour through mechanisms beyond a child's conscious awareness. By providing young people with support and equipping them with coping mechanisms to handle uncertainty, parents and carers can greatly enhance a child's capacity to recover and build long-term emotional resilience.
This Special Report will help you identify a child experiencing trauma and how you can support them to overcome it.
We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this Special Report, and as always, we welcome your feedback.
If you do have any concerns about the wellbeing of your child, please contact the school for further information or seek medical or professional help.

Hi,
One in three people in Sale will need blood during their lives — and without amazing locals like you spreading the word, that blood may not be there at the crucial moment.
As one of our amazing supporters you’re in an ideal position to let as many people as possible know that we’ll be rolling in at:
Sale Mobile Blood Donor Centre
14 to 24 May
Opening hours and location details are available on our website
Look for us at nearest local landmark; Sale Greyhound Racing Club
https://g.page/salegreyhounds-sale?share
Getting the word out is as easy as 1,2,3.
- Pop up a poster (or a post)
Download the attached poster, social media image and text, and pop them up where lots of people will see them. Or, share the Facebook event to your own pages for your friends and family to see.
- Pop in a donation time
If you’re a donor — or you’re organising a Lifeblood Team — don’t forget to book in beforehand online, on the app or on 13 14 95. Remember, get in early to grab the best time! And if you’re not already part of a Lifeblood Team, you can join or start one online.
- Pat yourself on the back
Local legends like you are more important than you could ever guess (but if you’re part of a Lifeblood Team, you can check your results online to get an inkling of your impact). By spreading the word out in your backyard, you give life and hope to so many people across Australia. That’s worth a pat on the back.
Thanks for helping get the word out!
Children will participate in kindness and anti-bullying activities in their classrooms.
