Our school is a place of faith and learning
Dear Parents and Families,
Our Year Five children have been preparing to present the Stations of the Cross as part of our Holy Week celebrations which begin next week.
This Sunday, marks the beginning of Holy Week with the celebration of Palm Sunday, followed by the significant events that took place in the life of Jesus leading to His death on Good Friday and Resurrection on Easter Sunday. All students will participate in the Holy Week liturgy next Wednesday morning.
We congratulate all students who celebrated their First Reconciliation last Tuesday evening at the Cathedral. It was a warm and inviting liturgy as children took part in the Sacrament of Forgiveness. May they always look to God to find the healing and peace that can be found in knowing and praying to Him.
Parents and Friends Association.
Yesterday, the P&F held its first face to face meeting for the year. It was lovely to have our parents onsite again and we thank all those who were able to attend.
The P&F exists to support the work of the school and most importantly, to encourage a sense of belonging and community at St Thomas’. They have a number of planned activities for the year and always welcome new families to attend meetings whenever they can. Dates and times will be published in the newsletter and on our website when they become available. We understand that it is not always possible for families to attend meetings, however, your assistance is always appreciated when various activities occur on the school calendar.
Their first efforts this year involve the Easter raffle, today’s Hot Cross Bun day and catering for next week’s Cross Country barbeque, i.e. cooking and distributing sausages to classes.
Thank you to parents who volunteered to assist with the school canteen. We will be speaking with our canteen provider to discuss the possibility of restarting lunch orders, however, at this stage, we will begin with over the canteen sales only.
Child Safety: Student Drop off and Pick up
We would like to thank everyone for supporting our “Drop off and pick up” arrangements for the term. This week’s wet weather proved a bit of a challenge, but all ran smoothly.
Details regarding arrangements for next term will be published in next week’s newsletter.
Child Safety: Volunteer Inductions
Please know that a Volunteer Induction session will be held on Monday, May 3rd 2021 at 5.30pm in the school hall. Online registrations will begin soon. Year One families who did not have the opportunity to participate last year are particularly encouraged to attend, together with 2021 Foundation families. Jen Brayshaw, our Child Safety Officer will lead the Inductions.
2022 Enrolments
Please know that online booking arrangements will open for families wishing to enrol their child at St Thomas’ in 2022. Open days will begin on Tuesday 25th May to Thursday 27th May 2021, and enrolment interviews will take place the following week. We have already started to have enquiries and it is most important that siblings are enrolled so as to ascertain the number of places available for new families. Please share these details if you know of anyone wishing to enrol their child or wanting to have a discussion and tour. All families are welcome. The enrolment policy can be found on the school and DOSCEL website.

New PAM (Parent Access Module) Roll Out - link and information
New PAM (Parent Access Module) Roll Out
PAM is an innovative parent-controlled electronic medical form for our school. It’s an electronic version of the paper-based forms we previously completed for excursions and camps. It provides parents with the opportunity to update medical information promptly and accurately while providing the school with instant access to the emergency information provided by you. We use the PAM app in the best interests of the children whilst also reducing the burden on parents to fill out the same information on multiple forms throughout the year.
Parents can use a PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone to enter details including:
- Student absence - entered via ‘Parent Notified Absences’. This is our preferred method, as we are phasing out the Szap app
- Emergency contacts
- Medical contacts
- Medical checklist, including asthma, allergies, seizures, diabetes
- Notes and other care instructions from parents
- Parent teacher interviews
- Student reports
- More features will be introduced later in the year
St Thomas’ Primary School will initially also use PAM as a tool to send parents permission forms and notifications.
Please note that it is the responsibility of parents to ensure their child’s medical and contact details are up to date and complete. In the event of an emergency the school staff will rely on the information provided via PAM.
We recommend that you add the PAM website to the home screen on your mobile device which will then display as an App. For instructions on how to do this and more, please access the PAM Parent Instruction Manual.
To access PAM, please click HERE and enter your login credentials to proceed to your account.
Please note you may only have one shared active family account per household, please contact the office if you have any queries.
If you need your login credentials or a password reset, please contact our reception officers on 5144 1332 or reception@sttsale.catholic.edu.au.
