Our school is a place of faith and learning
Dear Parents and Families,
NAPLAN/PARENT-TEACHER INTERVIEWS
NAPLAN testing took place this week and there was an opportunity for students who were absent to complete make up tests today. There will also be another opportunity next week.
We remind families that NAPLAN is one of many assessments that take place throughout the year and your child’s teacher will be able to chat to you about your child’s learning during Parent /Teacher Interviews that are scheduled for the end of term. Online registrations will open in a few weeks time.
PSG MEETINGS
It has been necessary to reschedule PSG meetings for the term and they will take place on either of the following dates, Monday May 17th, May 24th and May 31st. Reception will contact participating families.
UNIFORM
We thank families for supporting our uniform policy. A reminder, that the school jumper is to be worn during winter and is not to be replaced by the school jacket. The school jacket is an optional extra to be worn over the jumper for warmth or it may be worn with the sports uniform. Likewise, the fleecy windcheater does not replace the winter jumper, it is a sports uniform item.
Please label all new items and any uniform items that may have been passed down to siblings or friends. It just makes it easier to return items. If your child accidentally brings home another child’s uniform item, please return it to your child’s teacher. If labelled, it can be returned easily.
UP & COMING EVENTS
We are able to confirm swimming will take place next term. Kemp Aquatics will run the program at the Aqua Energy Swimming Complex. Details will be released prior to the end of term. The first lesson will take place on Friday, Week One, Term Four.
The Winter Sports Competition will take place on May 25th. Netball, Soccer and AFL will be played on the day. We also have eleven children heading to the district Cross Country next week and we wish them well.
The school choir will be participating in the Sale Eisteddfod. This will be a virtual event.
A video recording will be made of the children singing and shared with judges. A note went home yesterday to seek permission for the video filming to take place.
CONGRATULATIONS
Once again, we congratulate Matilda March for her efforts in the Boneo Equestrian Show Jumping Event. Matilda was placed ninth out of forty seven competitors.
CANTEEN/LUNCH ORDERS
Lunch orders will be available next Friday, May 21st. A menu list was sent home to families with details of how to order. Thank you to our volunteers who are able to assist.
CHILD SAFETY
Thank you also to parents who were able to attend the Volunteer Induction. Referee checks will be completed once forms are returned and Working With Children Checks have been completed.
A reminder to please use the QR scanner when visiting the school or complete a Visitor Declaration form. On wet days, the scanners will be located under the verandahs near the classrooms or upon entry into the hall.
CONFIRMATION
We look forward to the sacrament of Confirmation to be celebrated on the weekend of May 22nd & May 23rd. Please keep the candidates in your prayers.
]Enjoy your weekend

Matilda March - Pet stock Interschool Showjumping
Pet stock Interschool Showjumping
Matilda got 4th in her first round and finished 9th overall all yesterday out of a field of 43 riders in the Pet stock Interschool Showjumping.
Students in Grade 5 and 6 will have the opportunity to represent St Thomas’ at the SSV Winter Sport competition on Tuesday 25th May in either Netball, AFL or Soccer. Each team will play a round robin competition and finals against teams from schools in our local district. Students have nominated the sport they will like to be considered for, and where required, will participate in try-outs over the coming weeks. In order to allow all of our students to participate, we will require parent assistance for each of the events. If you are interested in coaching, umpiring or scoring any of the above sports and have completed the school induction program, we would love to hear from you. Please contact the student office or email Mrs Duffield at gduffield@sttsale.catholic.edu.au
