Our school is a place of faith and learning
Dear Parents and Families,
Spelling bee
This term all classes have participated in a spelling bee. The top 3 students from each grade will progress to a year level “grand final”. This will be held over the coming week. The top two competition winners from Grade 5 and 6 will have the opportunity to compete in the Wellington Vicspell competition to be held on Friday 27th August at Heyfield Primary School.
Yr6 Basketball Challenge
Our Yr6 students have worked hard to organise a basketball challenge during their lunch hour.
They have been totally responsible for managing teams, umpiring and times to participate. We congratulate them on their initiative.
School uniform
Just a reminder for all students to wear their tied back if below shoulder length. Students are wearing their Winter form so well, with a few reminders to keep shirts tidy. The winter uniform is a smart uniform and should be worn proudly.
We remind students to wear the white socks with the sports uniform and to ensure that branding is not visible.
Sneakers are only to be worn on allocated sports uniform days.
School Advisory Committee:
It is our intention to hold a school advisory Meeting prior to the end of term. Emails will be sent with the intention of having a google meet on Tuesday, August 31st at 7pm.
Book Week
Don't forget that Monday is our annual Book Week dress up day. The theme for book week this year is Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds. Children can come dressed up according to this theme or as a book character.
COVID-19 testing and unwell students
Please do not send your children to school if they are feeling unwell or who have COVID-19 symptoms. They should get tested and are asked to not attend the school until their symptoms resolve.
If anyone in your family is tested for COVID-19, please keep all of your children who attend St Thomas’ at home. They can return to school once negative test results are received.
Thank you for your continued support in remaining offsite while visitor restrictions are in place. We are so impressed with the way our younger students are able to say goodbye at the gate and take themselves to class. If for any reason you do need to enter the school please come via the reception, sign in via QR code and be wearing a mask.
St Thomas’ continues to educate our children on the importance of good hand and respiratory hygiene and promotes regular hand washing and sanitising. We continue to have additional cleaning throughout the day.
Take care,
Allison Arnup
Deputy Principal
