Our school is a place of faith and learning
Dear Parents and Families,
It was great to see children in their Book Week costumes at various times this week. We thank everyone for their efforts with colourful Googlemeets and Onsite Learning taking place and putting a smile on many faces. Thank you to Brooke Stewart and teachers for their enthusiasm. I hope you enjoy the photos from students learning onsite in their costumes.
Retirement
Fr Peter has announced his retirement to our school and wider Parish community. We will miss him dearly. He has always expressed interest in the work of the school, the children and families. His warmth and smile has always been welcome and we are very grateful for the time he has shared with us as a school community. He will remain administrator of the Parish and Dean of the Cathedral until mid January. We hope that we will be able to celebrate his years of service and ministering before the school year ends.
Googlemeets
As we head into this lockdown teachers are committed to being visible and accessible to students and families via the google meet platform. We ask that parents are nearby when lessons and meetings are taking place and to check learning programs for times. Each teacher tries to accommodate the varying needs of families with provision for a mix of online face to face teaching and meetings, instructional videos and independent learning. I congratulate teachers for their efforts and their endeavours to cater for the circumstances of families within the class.
We appreciate that circumstances do differ for families and are very mindful of this when planning. We are grateful for the positive feedback we receive and remind parents that teachers are here to support your children. We encourage you to communicate regularly with teachers to celebrate your child’s successes and support them through challenges.
Nanny Knows Jesus
I was blessed to have a conversation with one of our Year One children this week while she sat completing her tasks for the day. She proceeded to tell me that “Nanny knows Jesus. She went to school with him and Jesus got awards every week?” “Why is that I asked? “ Because he’s Jesus!” Our conversation continued and she assured me “Nanny is still friends with Jesus”.
As we continue to manage the uncertainty that our current circumstances bring, may we find comfort and hope in knowing Christ. May our friendship with Him be everlasting.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
Take care and God Bless ,
Anita and Staff
