Our school is a place of faith and learning
Dear Parents and Families,
As mentioned last week, Wednesday, February March 2nd, 2022 marked the beginning of Lent in our Catholic Church calendar. Liturgies were held in each classroom to welcome the season of Lent and to reflect upon our call to be more like Christ during the forty day period leading to Easter.
Lent mirrors the forty days Jesus spent fasting in the wilderness. He voluntarily removed himself from the pleasures of life and the company of people so that he could draw close to God, hear from Him and prepare himself for what was to come - an intense period of public ministry culminating in death on the cross and His resurrection.
On Ash Wednesday, children shared their Lenten promises and engaged in prayer. Ashes were sprinkled on the heads of children to remind them of God’s existence and to acknowledge God’s presence within our school community.
During this Lenten season, let us pray
Loving God,
Help us to work together
to share what we have
so that everyone has what they need.
Help us to build a better world
where each of us can become the best person we can be.
Amen
CHILD SAFETY AND WELLBEING
Last year, we applied and were successful in receiving a grant to support our children in the area of overall wellbeing and mental health through THE RESILIENCE PROJECT initiative.
Today attached to the newsletter you will find a flyer that outlines the purpose of
THE RESILIENCE PROJECT and how it can support the wellbeing of our school community, particularly our students.
Through targeted and evidence based teaching practices,THE RESILIENCE PROJECT works towards:
- High student engagement in learning through interactive lessons;
- Building and strengthening peer connections inside and outside the classroom;
- Equipping students with practical strategies to support problem solving and personal wellbeing.
Teachers will continue with their professional learning in this space next week by participating in an interactive online professional development session and there will also be an opportunity for parents to participate in an information session later in the school year. Please refer to the flyer.
END OF DAY ARRANGEMENTS AND FUTURE SCHOOL BASED ACTIVITIES
Yesterday, you would have received updated information regarding some of the activities that will be able to resume at school within our COVID 19 context and the Child safe and COVID safe measures in place.
I ask you to pay particular attention to the end of day arrangements that begin next week and thank you for support thus far, particularly with ensuring our Foundation students have had the opportunity to practise their exit from school. It is much appreciated.
A reminder that masks are to be worn indoors within primary schools unless an exemption applies.
If planning to make your way indoors throughout the day, please ensure you register your attendance at the school office using the VPASS system and indicate your vaccination status.
I have included a copy of the end of day arrangements for you below.
END OF DAY ARRANGEMENTS: Beginning March 7th 2022
Please know that physical distancing still remains an important measure in maintaining a COVID Safe environment and we ask that families social distance as necessary and avoid congregating.
The following arrangements will be in place and will be reviewed regularly to ensure we are managing numbers and spaces appropriately. There will be designated areas for parents/guardians and carers attending onsite to pick up their children.
It is most important you discuss meeting points and end of day arrangements with your child /children to ensure a smooth changeover at the end of the day.
