Our school is a place of faith and learning
Dear Parents and Families,
As mentioned this week, all staff received their first professional learning session with respect to The Resilience Project on Monday March 7th 2022.They joined a number of other local schools and discussed the key elements of Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy.
Each day, staff assist children to find the language to express and manage their emotions as they present themselves in class or out on the school yard.
During the season of Lent, gratitude and empathy tie in beautifully with our Catholic and Christian message of being grateful for what we have and serving others by being empathetic and recognising what others may be feeling or experiencing.
During Lent we especially look out to identify the needs of others, physically and emotionally and to respond in whatever way we can to support them. We are also reminded to appreciate what we have and to be thankful for our families, friends, education, shelter and food.
We are asked to be mindful, forgiving of others and to pray and to give in whatever way we can.
Giving can be a simple smile, a shake of a hand, a lending hand, an everyday day deed that becomes extraordinary as we reach out to be Christlike in our interactions with others.
Let this Lenten season be one of prayer, empathy, gratitude and giving.
Parents and Friends Committee
As you are aware we are keen to resume a number of our activities at school.
Our current P&F Committee are keen to welcome new members to assist in building a sense of community and providing a range of opportunities for our children that involve parental support.
Fundraising is one element of the P&F role, but as we welcome families back to school, we wish to reconnect and create new opportunities for parents to be involved.
We recognise that not everyone can be involved at all times due to family and work commitments. There may be times when you are readily available to assist during the year and then other occasions, where other commitments need to take priority.
We will be holding our Volunteer Induction sessions on Tuesday, March 29th, 2022 at 9am and 5.30pm and will be opening up online registrations next week to gauge numbers for each session. All volunteers will need to complete a volunteer induction, hold a current Working With Children’s check and be vaccinated with a booster unless an exemption applies to work as a volunteer.
What’s on the agenda?

Hot Cross Bun Day

BULLYING NO WAY/ DIVERSITY DAY
Next Friday, March 18th 2022, the children will have the opportunity to wear orange to acknowledge the cultural diversity that exists within our school community and within Australia.
Friday will be a day to demonstrate a healthy respect for our cultural differences.
We encourage you to discuss the ancestry of your family, as teachers encourage children to embrace and respect the differences that exist within our diverse communities.
Please refer to details included in today’s newsletter.
UNWELL CHILDREN
We remind families that if children are not well, they are to remain home until all their symptoms are resolved.
For new families, please know that if children are not well with gastro, the Health Department recommends that your child remains at home at least 48 hrs after their symptoms have stopped. If symptoms persist, visit your GP. Please find further details by following the link.
If children present with COVID symptoms and return a negative result, they are still asked to remain at home if not well. A reminder that we are going to enter the cold and flu season and the best place for children when not well is home.
We also encourage families to ensure that their child’s asthma and allergy plans are in place and up to date, particularly if things significantly change with their health.
One of the best defences for the above ailments is to ensure children practise good respiratory and hand hygiene.
Please encourage your child to regularly wash their hands with soapy water and to cough and sneeze into their elbow.
Remind them not to share items to avoid the transmission of germs from one hand to the other.
In this way we work together to keep children, staff and families safe.
Enjoy your long weekend.
Happy holidays.
Anita and staff
